STARTING THE 2016-17 SEASON

Last Sunday we had a meeting with almost the whole team. Even the members who had to come across the country were there. (They had to travel eight hours in total) The meeting was meant to conclude the 2015-16 season and to start the new 2016-17 season!

Concluding the 2015-16 season
We started with evaluating the last robot season. Each team member received feedback on their share in the team. We learned a lot about ourselves and the team and we discussed about the points we have to work on. Of course, we also talked about the things we achieved and the points on which our team did very well this season.

After the feedback round, Ronald and Niels shared their ideas of the new team structure. With this as a base, the position of each member will be more clear. Besides that, the structure will give us a opportunity to proceed more focused on our own part in the team.

Starting the 2016-17 season
Also important about this meeting; we started the new season. We talked about our future plans and our off-season projects. We would like to get more experience in building robots, so that is why we will start building robots during the off-season. We’re planning to build a robot with tracks and a robot with swerve drive, something we also worked on last year.

Besides that, we hope to inspire new teams and students who want to join the FIRST Lego League (FLL) and the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). We want to tell about our own experiences and give EV3 lessons to students.

We closed the meeting and started this season very well. What could be more fun than eating together? Because food + people = team building. Experiences about the trip to the United States were shared with each other and with the members who stayed home during the regional.
We want to organize more team building events in the future to get to know each other even better.

So, the meeting was partly to evaluate last robot season, and partly to talk about our plans for the future. Ending the season with a feedback round was very important for our team. We made both mistakes and a lot of progress.

We are looking forward to a new season with new goals and new challenges to tackle.
We hope you enjoyed reading this blog. We will keep you up-to-date and share our work during the off-season.
