The final weeks till the Orlando Regional

The final weeks before the competition are all about building and finishing our robot. This season is exceptionally challenging. Our biggest challenge is not so much the robot or organizing the trip to our Regional. It is nearly getting enough students available and present during their demanding school programs. We ended up doing most of the building in the last weekend before the robot had to be bagged and tagged before shipment to Orlando. This took place during a so called Scrimmage. This is an intense weekend where we were the guest of team Rembrandts near Eindhoven. They have a complete competition playing field an also invited some other teams from Europe. We got just a view hours of sleep in a sleeping bag on the playing field and spend most of the weekend building an almost complete robot. The robot will have to be finished during the first days of competition. Time’s up.

Some impressions:

Time’s up means the robot has to be bagged and tagged and put in the crate. Our robot fits in the crate with one centimeter to spare. The name of this year’s robot is Mario.

About this year’s theme and game,

This year’s theme is Retro Gaming and the game is called Power Up. The objective is to handle so called Power Cubes and put them in the Switch or Scale. At the end of the game, the robot has to climb the tower and face the Boss. Confused ? Watch the game animation and will all be explained. On the official FIRST website you can also find the game manual and additional information.

This year’s game has a high strategy level. So it’s not all about the robot. We think it will be a lot of fun.

Next stop, Orlando.

So our next challenge is getting a team to the Orlando Regional. Our competition is between the 8th and the 10th of March at the CFE Arena on UCF Campus. More information is to be found on the official Orlando FRC website.

Welcome!
